I could wish they'd gone for someone outside the "family".
I liked Broadchurch too. It's considerably better than anything else of his I've seen. I think a lot of the credit should go to the director and cast.
Moffat's writing was a lot better when he was contributing occasional episodes to the show. The Empty Child, The Girl in the Fireplace and Blink were as good as it gets. I had high hopes for his time as show-runner and was largely disappointed. He entangled himself in complex, overblown and poorly resolved story arcs- and lumbered the eleventh doctor with a couple of increasingly tiresome companions. I suppose what I'm saying is you can't tell- from past performance- whether someone is going to make a good job of running the show or not. Maybe Chibnall will be amazing.
I'd love the next Doctor to be a woman. The move is way overdue.
Yeah, Moffat was never as good as he was when just writing a few episodes.
I would have liked a new showrunner who'll be willing to write a companion's departure like it's not the whole world ending. I liked how Jo Grant or Sarah Jane Smith departing didn't require a massive rupture in the space time continuum.
