About June 22nd, 2002

I've settled . . . for now 12:36 am
I think . . . this colour scheme just might do. Believe me, it took some serious negotiating to talk myself into something that was actually easily LEGIBLE (I kept thinking--"It's not IMPOSSIBLE to read, just DIFFICULT. If they have to work for it, they'll appreciate it more). Anyway, hopefully my interest in this thing shall extend beyond my experiments with the colour scheme. We'll see . . .

How about that photo, huh? Personally, I think if the term "Shit-eating-grin" were ever put in the dictionary, they'd need to put this picture beside it. Unfortunately, I've really nothing better, and I like the candles in the background.

One more word about the colour-scheme; I wanna call it Bloody Extracted Heart on Sterile White Opporating Table. Can you feel that looking at it? I do hope so.

For my next trick, I'm going to have a go at sleeping. Or at least, after I've read for a bit . . . Trying to decide between finishing reading a Director's Cut Johnny the Homicidal Maniac a very dear friend loaned to me, or finishing a very amusing story by Edgar Allan Poe entitled "A Predicament". Perhaps I shall flip a coin . . .

I do hope sleep happens.

It just occured to me what a marvellous thing it is to be able to quote or refer to a very obscure, very influencial underground artist. Unfortunately, I've never been one of the smug bastards who was able to do so.

If you're like me, then I've devised something you might like . . . Or, I should say, I've devised someONE. Feda Chiinial Fredo. I just made her up.

So, anyone reading this journal, if you should ever need to pull a name out of your ass to support some dubiously eccentric philosophical, political, or emotional statement, be sure to pull out Feda. If enough people see this journal, and use Feda, then a subtle web of credibility shall be established as people who are refered to Feda's works might vaguely remember having heard her name somewhere else.

And so, Feda Chiinial Fredo, I send thee out into the world . . .

Just returned from seeing Steven Spielburg's latest. Schindler's List it was not, I must say . . . And the action sequences were like poor shadows of the ones in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Still, it did have some good moments, particularly the beginning segment showing John Anderton (Cruise) and his team arresting a fellow just before he stabs his wife with a pair of scissors. Nice stuff, and made so by Spielburg's snappy flow of cuts and pans.

But generally speaking, the movie was weak everywhere that it deviated from Philip K. Dick's quite wonderful original tale. Sappy elements like Anderton pinning for his dead son give the movie an overdose of misplaced Heart.

The outting was more enjoyable for the girl I spent it with. Someone I care a great deal for with whom I hadn't gotten opportunity to properly hang out with in quite a while . . . It does me good to see her particularly as she was in an unusually good mood.

So it's a good day . . . It did all right. I give it a warm, affectionate pat on the head.
