Salt Precaution

A good blade

This was the first night in quite a while that I've been at Magious's house until well into the night playing Morrowind. Figures I'd end up doing it before a day when I had to get up early.

I almost got a free katana out of the visit.

Magious was putting his computer back together, when I idly reached into his pile of katanas and produced the one with the strange wobbly handle.

Seeing me toying with it, Magious informed me that I might have it if I wished, since he already had several katanas and had no use for a broken one.

"Really? I can keep it?"

"Sure," he said.

Having never come close to talking myself into spending the around one hundred dollars on a katana for myself, I thought, "Hey, cool, free thing,"

Unfortunately, since Magious was engaged with his computer, I was given time which it seemed I was only able to fill by taking apart the weapon's hilt entirely, exposing the metal core of the thing that was in fact part of the single long piece of metal that was the blade. And then Magious and I easily figured out how to put it back together so that the handle was not wobbly, and the thing was no longer broken.

Naturally, he wanted to keep it for himself now, and since it was part of a set that also included a wakizashi and a tanto, I couldn't in good conscience keep it.

*sigh* Oh well.
