Delusional Warrior, Ganbatte!

About Mostly Inadvertent Offences

Previous Entry Delusional Warrior, Ganbatte! Aug. 26th, 2011 @ 03:35 pm Next Entry

Somehow a whole second season of Maria Holic happened without me finding out about it until yesterday. I watched the first episode with breakfast to-day--it's good, though like the first season, I actually found it difficult to concentrate on the story when I'm distracted by the pretty visuals, though they're not as fresh as they were last season.

The new opening theme isn't as good, but it's a lot funnier;

It seems to be a parody of anime themes from the 1970s and early 1980s. It sounds a lot like the opening to Galaxy Express 999 to me.

After watching this, I went into Second Life to play chess and found someone at the chess club I'd met a couple weeks ago. To-day he was wearing the title of "Grand Wizard". I asked if he was in the Ku Klux Klan and he didn't say anything. This guy happens to be sponsoring to-morrow's chess tournament, which should be interesting. I guess this explains the massive crucifix I saw in his girlfriend's doll shop. The guy had already been giving me a bad vibe, though I thought it was just because he had a mullet. It's weird how a guy could hate black people, Jewish people, and gay people and yet not have a problem hosting a tournament run by a Furry. Maybe he doesn't understand the whole "Furry" thing.

... or POSSIBLY he heard you say something incendiary, assumed you were trying to troll him, and reacted accordingly by ignoring you. *shrugs* Unless your relationship with him is such that he feels he can discuss racially loaded topics with you without it turning into a flame war, it's not really a good indicator of whether he's actually in a hate group, or was just ignorant of the title's connotations.

I guess I should've included the whole conversation--I saw him with the "Grand Wizard" tag and asked if he was in the Ku Klux Klan. When he didn't say anything, I said, "I'm sorry, I don't mean to offend you. But 'Grand Wizard' is what they called the leader of the Ku Klux Klan."

He said, "Yes," and told me it was also the name of the leader of the Magi. I don't know if this was meant to mean generic mages or the three wise men, but given the fact that he and his girlfriend seem to be very religious, I assumed it was the latter. Anyway, I then asked, "So which are you? Magi or klansman?"

He said, "What do you think?" Then someone else showed up and he left without saying anything. I asked him at the tournament to-day if he was in the Ku Klux Klan and after a few minutes he finally said no. But he was still wearing the Grand Wizard tag. He's also started a chess club where the members all have to wear "knights" tags. For my money, he's definitely a white supremacist but is afraid of alienating the other people in the chess club. And certainly, you can say this is not the sort of thing I can prove in a court of law. I wouldn't name him directly in my blog. But I'm convinced.

Oh, okay, so there was a conversation and he didn't just blow you off completely. Yeah, playing the whole coy bullshit card is a lot more suspicious than just ignoring you. Sounds like basically now he's got plausible deniability and that's it, if that's how it went.

It really bugs me he's somehow managed to rook a lot of the players out of money with his bogus chess classes. I watched him demo a class--even putting aside the white supremacist thing, the guy has no idea how to teach. And then there's the white supremacist thing. Augh.
